Juneau where I'm going?

Ahh yes... Juneau, the state capital of Alaska! The only way in, is by air or sea. I was not happy to be there when I got there, I'll tell you that! I went from being in the happy town of Skagway, where I swear everything is happy and is singing and it's like you are in a slice of heaven. The butterflies land on your shoulder and whisper secrets in your ear and the salmon jump out of the water and wink at you! Ok, not really, but what a great place it is and everything is in walking or biking distance. (Maybe this is the small town girl in me...)
Juneau, no, I don't know. It's loud, there are buses, traffic, horns and lots of people! I guess I was just a little shell shocked when I got there. Going from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood to Sesame Street meets the Garbage Pale Kids! Let's just say, I was happy when I finally got up on the glacier.

I was needed at Gold Rush, which is the dog camp on the ground in Juneau up near Sheep Creek. The glacier and Sheep Creek were short handed and well, I was available and ready for more work, not really knowing what I was going to be doing when the season was done. So to the glacier first. What a calming feeling when I got up to the glacier. Silence. That peace and quiet that I had grown so accustom to while in Skagway, my home away from home. Just the sounds of helicopters and howling. Ahhhh.... peace. I spent a few days helping by taking photos and then headed back down, knowing that I would be coming back up to help with tear down. I knew this was only going to get better... Or was it!
