Wonder Woman seen Flying behind Dog Sled Team in Alaska...
| It just seemed fitting, Halloween 2008 Ventura, CA |
Yup, that's what it looked like yesterday! I went for my first solo run with Scott... and well, coming out of the yard, which is a whole bunch of corners, I ate it... got up, ate it some more, turned the sled back up right, and flew just like wonder woman and had to pull a James Bond move to right myself! Yeah, that was the last time I fell. Then it was... well, somewhat smooth sailing. I am feeling pretty stretched out right now. We ended up going on a 28-30 mile run. WOW!!! Awesome! Not gonna lie, I am some sore from getting stretched a little! I can't even being to tell you the amazing power those dogs have. It's beyond words, but not beyond words when you are being drug at about 10 mph in the snow. Hey, I'm still here right. I am glad that I am in good shape, this ain't for the lazy fatty type. I have lost about 10 lbs. and man am I ripped! HA!
When I got back to Russ's house, I live here now, more room and I am taking care of his 14 dogs while he works, I made Muskox stroganoff. Man was that awesome, I damn near impressed myself with that one. I also damn near cut my finger off... nothing a little paper towel and electrical tape didn't fix. Glad no one saw that one either. I don't think I can eat beef again! I have been spoiled with Salmon, Caribou, Moose, Black Tail, Muskox and soon some shrimp from Ketchikan, which is near BC. I am going to make up some of my ridiculous, for those of you that have had it, sausage biscuits and gravy with.... Bear Sausage! MAN! I love cooking this game!
I am sending you some photos of random runs and ones that Scott took of me yesterday. Also Angie, she is staying here with Russ too, she is running the Iditarod in March, and I did the Women's Cross Cut Saw Race at the Willow Carnival. Not really a huge carnival, but there are definitely some interesting people here... that's all I'm gonna say. They kind of all have the same ears... as Russ puts it. Anyway, Angie and I won! Not bad for never doing it before, Angie has before and I never even saw them go yet! And we made the paper, won a trophy, couple gift certificates. Good times. Axe chopping next week. Let's see if Maine can bring home the Gold again! There were 7 women's teams that competed. Oh yeah, the photo of the moose is when Russ and I were at the Carnival and we... he... volunteered to help out at one of the 18 mile sled races. He called me a drooler because I wanted to take a picture... He is such a damn riot! Definitely a good ole boy!
Well, we are going to hopefully go on another run here soon, not a long one. Scott has been awesome as far as teaching me. He has to be a little hard on me, that's the way I need to learn though! It's great to work/learn from someone that is so driven and determined. Someone to really look up to and learn from. Good man and great work ethic, which must be a Maine thing! Anyway, off I go and let's friggin hope I don't eat it again!!!
Love to you all and enjoy the snow!!!
