They Came from the Air and the Mountains for the Birthday Girl...

10 Tourists touring...
Ah, yes.  I am sure you are thinking, "Wait, what?  Air, mountains, birthday?  What are you getting at, Sarah?"  So no doubt, there we were....  Beautiful morning, (just got back from our day off) I flew in space available to the glacier.  The "tourists" that I flew up with greeted Rachel, one of the awesome crew up here, singing Happy Birthday as she greeted them with her cheerful smile!  It was her birthday!  Yup, 21!  Yadda, yadda, yadda, did a tour, then another...  and they got stuck.  I guess one would say stuck, others would say they got an extended tour!  As the 10 tourists were out on the trail, the weather came in.  No worries, Pete radioed the mushers telling them to come right back.  Now what that means is...  get on your sled, hurry up, so we can get them off the glacier.  Well, the mushers did just that.  Didn't matter though.  The weather got worse.  So...  Rachel and I used our super-human people skills and sang, danced, told PG jokes, hell even the tourists were telling jokes.  There was a family of 6 from India, a newlywed couple from England and Randi and Dawn, two women from Florida.  We played in the snow with the kids from India, well I did, they had never seen snow before.  Honestly, we all had a great time!  Finally, after loading up and taking off... TWICE, they took off.  Great people and they had a blast!  Good job to everyone!
Rachel's turns 21 on the Glacier
Later in the day, when tours were done, we were all taking care of the yards.  We are all assigned yards, 40 dogs to a yard, scoop, feed, water and medicate those that need it.  Out of the blue, we see 4 bodies coming down over one of the "mountains".  There were two snowboarders and two skiers.  The group had been travelling at that point for 28 days from Juneau Ice fields camping all along the way.  So when Karen, our cook, offered for them to stay for supper, they were very happy!   Great people, a lot of good stories, and wasn't it great to have a fresh set of faces on the glacier.  Nice to have some accents too!
We all drank wine, were merry and then the boys headed off after telling some interesting stories about their journey.  Our crew stayed up for a little bit, then bed for us.  No one was really all that lively, especially after the fun we had just had on our day off!
